This short( 4 - 16 inches ) grass, Bouteloua hirsuta var. hirsuta (hairy grama) Poaceae, seems to like the harsh conditions of the ridge top of the loess hill prairie. It is presently known from only one County in Missouri. This image captures the flowering stem in bloom. jaHar pix
