Northwest beckons for June field trip

The Missouri Native Plant Society heads to the northwest corner of the state and Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge for its summer field trip June 20-22.

Grow Native! Container Garden Contest

Show off your small garden in a big way by entering the Grow Native! Container Garden Contest.

Send your name, address, e-mail address, telephone number and photos of your container garden (taken throughout the growing season—no more than three) to Grow Native! P.O. Box 630 Jefferson City, MO 65102. Or enter electronically by sending the same information to grownative@mda.mo.gov. Also include a list of plants used in the container and their source (retail garden center, neighbor, specialty shop, wherever).

All entries must be postmarked by Wednesday, October 15, 2008.

Click here for details located on the Grow Native! web site.

Fall field trip looks east to St. Louis' LaBarque Creek

On the weekend of Sept. 12-14, the Missouri Native Plant Society will meet in the St. Louis area and explore the LaBarque Creek watershed in nearby Jefferson County.

Squaw Creek Carpooling

I am planning on leaving St Louis for Squaw Creek on Thurs afternoon. If anyone would like to carpool, please let me know.

Additionally I will probably be camping at a State Park a couple of miles from Squaw Creek, and anyone who wants to join me is welcome as well.

Thanks
Steve

Bobwhite Quail/Native Plant Field Day on June 26

The Bradford Research and Extension Center (Columbia, Missouri) will host a Bobwhite Quail/Native Plant Field Day on June 26th 2008 from 4:00-8:00 PM. Visit the Bradford Research and Extension Center web site for details, including a flyer in PDF format.

The Titan Arum (Corpse flower) is blooming!

It may not be a Missouri native, but definitely worth seeing.
